Third Saturday Hike
Saturday November 19, 2011

Cross Florida Greenway Hike
from the Land Bridge Trailhead to the I-75 land bridge, and (optional) beyond.

You may have gone under the land bridge on I-75 slightly north of exit 341—now you will cross it!

Meet at 10:00AM on Saturday November 19, at the Land Bridge Trailhead.  We will hike promptly at 10:15 AM.

Directions:  From I-75 exit 341 (CR484) head east for a quarter mile to the intersection with CR475A.  Turn left and proceed on 475A for approximately two miles to the trailhead on the left.  (The sign may be partially blocked by foliage—so watch carefully).

Depending on where you live, you can also take CR484 from Dunnellon or from route 200—continue east and turn left on to CR475A one quarter mile beyond crossing I75.  Proceed two miles to trailhead on the left.

There are restrooms and picnic tables.  A good place for lunch or snack after the hike.

We will be hiking the blue-blaze side trail to the land bridge first, then return on the orange blaze Florida Trail.  This is slightly over three miles in all.  There are some amazing stands of live oaks.  Most of the route is shaded except for the first part of the blue-blaze trail.

For those who would like to venture further -- we can continue on the orange blaze trail across the land bridge as far as consensus decides and double back to the land bridge.  This is interesting terrain created by the early digging for the Florida Canal.
